Jutsu Rules

Ninjutsu (忍術; Literally meaning "Ninja Techniques") refers to any technique that utilizes chakra and allows the user to perform actions that a normal person otherwise would be incapable of doing. Unlike genjutsu, which causes the opponent to experience illusions, the effects of ninjutsu are real. Ninjutsu relies on chakra and, most of the time, hand seals to be effective. The hands are put in sequential positions that molds and manipulates chakra in the necessary manner to perform a jutsu. This is not always needed, however, and some jutsu become second nature to experienced ninja, after which they can perform them at will. Additionally, many ninjutsu can be classified as an elemental jutsu, in those cases where a specific element (wind, water, fire, earth, lightning) is used. It can be used in collaboration with Taijutsu to create Nintaijutsu techniques.

When creating a ninjutsu, the two methods of manipulating chakra are referred to as Shape Transformation and Nature Transformation:

* Shape Transformation deals with controlling the form, movement, and potency of chakra.
* Nature Transformation usually deals with changing the physical properties of chakra into an element. (There is also the Nature Transformation of Yin and Yang, but little is revealed about this)

These two methods can be implemented separately or together in order to create a ninjutsu.

The rules of Ninjutsu, are simple, we hope that our members use common sense. For instance, we don't want to see people using 10 S-rank jutsu's in one fight. Not even the kyuubi could pull that off.

Taijutsu 体術; Literally meaning "Body Techniques") is a basic form of jutsu that generally speaking requires no chakra, but chakra may be used to enhance techniques. Taijutsu generally require no hand seals to perform and are much quicker to use than ninjutsu or genjutsu. Taijutsu is simply put, hand-to-hand combat, or weaponry.

Although it is used by nearly all ninja,some characters use taijutsu almost exclusively like Rock Lee and his teacher Might Guy, and are experts on many taijutsu techniques. Example of Taijutsu techniques are Dynamic Entry and Leaf Whirlwind. The Hyūga Clan's Gentle Fist, however, makes extensive use of chakra and demands great skill in its control. The taijutsu techniques are the right choices for those that want to save their time and chakra, or for those who rely on their physical attributes. It can also be used in collaboration with Ninjutsu to create Nintaijutsu techniques.

There is no real rule on Taijutsu, just don't put, "Moved with untraceable blinding speed"

Genjutsu (幻術; Literally meaning "Illusionary Techniques") are techniques that are employed in the same fashion as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and hand seals. However, the primary difference between the two is that the effects of genjutsu are illusory; instead of attacking the victim's body, Genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain, thus causing a disruption in their senses.

This is often used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma (because the body is led to believe it is in pain); however, there are plenty of other uses depending on the situation. They are not used as often as ninjutsu because they don't physically harm the opponent, but several characters have made themselves well-known for their great prowess with genjutsu like Itachi Uchiha, Tayuya, and Kurenai Yūhi.

Genjutsu is created when a ninja extends their chakra flow through the cerebral nervous system of their opponent to control their mind's chakra, thereby affecting their five senses. Those with special abilities like the Uchiha clan's Sharingan or with high intelligence have an easier time executing and countering genjutsu, as attention to detail is key. Those under the influence of genjutsu either freeze in place or lose consciousness, depending on how capable they are in recognizing and defending against it.

Genjutsu attacks usually require a lot of skill, and, if performed incorrectly, will not work; even Jiraiya had trouble performing such techniques. Genjutsu is most often used by ninja with very precise chakra control and very high intelligence.

Because Genjutsu effects activity throughout the Prosencephalon structure of the brain, humans and dogs are both affected by genjutsu; however, the Kikaichū, like all insects, lack such a structure of their brain, and so do not even notice it: As Shino Aburame put it, insects are ruled almost solely by five powerful senses alone, which makes them immune to genjutsu and gives the Aburame clan an ability to detect it when nobody else can.

Shikamaru Nara states that among genjutsu the most dangerous are those that affect the opponent with sound allowing the user to stay out of sight. Tayuya is a great example of this sound-based, long-range type of combat.

To combat the effects of genjutsu, there are several options.

The first option is for the ninja to stop the flow of chakra in their body, and then apply an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of the caster's chakra; this is called Genjutsu Release (幻術解, Genjutsu Kai). This can also be done by an unaffected ninja by applying a sudden surge of chakra into the affected person. In addition, tailed beasts can break their Jinchūriki out of genjutsu in a similar fashion.

The second option is through intense pain not caused by the genjutsu and utilizing the resulting pain to bring their senses back in order (of the first two options, the latter seems more effective in most situations, or at least is the easiest).

The third option is accessible only to Sharingan wielders. Members of the Uchiha clan can break or see through genjutsu using their Sharingan. Breaking Tsukuyomi is possible with an ordinary Sharingan, but requires a lot of skill.

Fourthly, ordinary people can sometimes train their eyes (without Sharingan) to break genjutsu through unknown means, like Deidara.

Finally, one can prevent a person from casting genjutsu using obstructive jutsus like the Hidden Mist jutsu to prevent one from seeing the opponent in the first place, as Zabuza demonstrated against Kakashi.

In spite of these methods, some forms of genjutsu like Itachi's Tsukuyomi and Jiraiya's Frog Song may not be broken easily, either due to their near-instant effect like the former, or their ability to render one unconscious and paralysed altogether like the latter. In addition, one must realize that he or she is under the effects of genjutsu before attempting to break out of it. This can be done by observing the changes in one's own chakra like Karin's chakra-sensing ability.

Genjutsu is something that is extremely complicated to work into rp without making it too weak or too strong. Hopefully this works, to break a genjutsu, you must know that you are under it. Then somehow be able to break it with kai, or pain. By knowing we mean "I can't see them I must be in a genjutsu". You must type out how your character realized they were in the genjutsu. Then post breaking it, to break it, you must know "Kai" equal to that of the genjutsu. I.e if you are b-rank, you can't break an S-rank genjutsu. A-ranks can break A-rank jutsu and below and so on. If genjutsu as there as one of your specialties, then you can break a genjutsu higher than yours. I.e if your A rank with genjutsu as your specialty you can break an S-rank. These rules may be tweaked in the future, but for now this is how they are.

Senjutsu (仙術, Sage Techniques) refers to a specialized field of jutsu that allows the user to sense and then gather the natural energy around a person. Senjutsu practitioners can then learn to draw the energy of nature inside of them blending it with their own chakra (created from spiritual and physical energy within the shinobi), adding a new dimension of power to the Sage's chakra, resulting in the creation of "senjutsu chakra" (仙術チャクラ, senjutsu chakura).

This new chakra enables the user to enter an empowered state called Sage Mode, which can then drastically increase the strength of all ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu. In addition, while in Sage Mode (only Jiraiya has been seen doing this so far), the abilities of Fukasaku and Shima are added to the user's arsenal, extending the duration of his Sage Mode and allowing him access to powerful collaboration jutsus and a powerful genjutsu. A person who is able to use senjutsu is called a sage (仙人, sennin). It would seem that it stems from the toads of Myōbokuzan, as only Shima, Fukasaku, Jiraiya and Naruto have been seen using it. Gamakichi and Gamabunta also seem to be familiar with it.

According to Fukasaku, only those who already possess "extreme chakra levels ... specifically Jiraiya and Naruto" can utilize natural energies to invoke senjutsu.

The user is required to balance his/her physical and spiritual energy with the natural energy he/she gathers from nature; Gamakichi likens the process of adding natural energy to one own physical and spiritual energies to adding an extra flavor to a chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream. If the user puts too little natural energy into using senjutsu, the technique will not initiate.

While gathering natural energy, the gatherer must remain absolutely still in order to be one with nature. They can use a special toad oil that allows the natural energy to enter their body, but this oil only exists in liquid form in Myōbokuzan's atmosphere. The oil evaporates if it is taken outside, only making it useful for learning purposes. If the user takes in too much natural energy, the user will start to turn into a toad and, eventually, turn to stone. The petrified remains of one-time apprentice Sages who failed to master senjutsu are spread throughout Myōbokuzan.

Getting hit by a special scepter during the transformation will reverse the Toad Transformation by knocking all the natural energy out of the gatherer. It is dangerous to learn how to gather natural energy without the staff because there is no other known way to reverse the toad transformation. Furthermore, if the transformation is completed, not even the staff can reverse it, and the user would become a toad statue forever.

If the practitioner can achieve a perfect balance between the physical and spiritual energies of their own chakra, and the energies of nature they can produces a new and stronger chakra, called "Sage Chakra".

Main article: Sage Mode Those who are able to learn to use senjutsu are able to enter a physical state called "Sage Mode". When active, Sage Mode increases the user's strength and speed, as well as more powerful jutsu.

Jiraiya had trouble using Sage Mode, as he slightly turns into a toad whenever he uses this form. This involved his nose and eyes (although the eyes can be excluded because as Fukasaku said the "toad eyes" are always present in Sage Mode being the sign of a true Sage) changing to a more toad-like appearance. Also, he grows a goatee just like Fukasaku's and his fingers and toes are toad-like. In order to use Sage mode in combat, Jiraiya relies on Fukasaku and Shima to gather natural energy for him.

However, Naruto, who has just learned how to sense natural energy and create sage chakra, only has red rings around his eyes and horizontal, golden slitted-pupils, showing his mastery over his Sage form. Naruto is able to use his Sage chakra very well, demonstrating the ability to lift a giant toad statue with his Sage chakra augmenting his physical strength soon after his induction to senjutsu. In order to use Sage mode in combat, Naruto uses shadow clones to gather natural energy for him.

Senjutsu will only be available to those who have frogs as their listed summonings.
